obd I code 522....don't move drivetrain related.

drivetrain/eec problem.

im getting code 522. vehicle not in park. ok fine. well i have 2 switches. one on the top left of my trans works my back up lights. its fine and dandy.

this switch which is broken is on the top right. i went to the local parts counter. not pepboys or anything. they had no clue none of there books said nothing.

so WTF? is it. i dont wanna goto the stealership......that 85 bux there


worse come to worse lol put the damn thing back in and twist the 2 wire togeather.....nut im a firm beliver of doing it right

It looks like you have a manual transmission. If so, Ford calls that part the "Neutral Sensing Switch".

Probably a dealer or junkyard item. AFAIK, that switch wasn't used after 94.

They are also referred to a Neutral SAFETY switch, or Neutral POSITION switch.

in case you can't find what you are looking for with FORD terminology for some reason.

well my parts guy showed me all the hits for neutral switches....none matched to what i had in my hand.

do i really need it? put it in the hole and twist the 2 wires togeather call it good?


junk yards here are so rough a roach pulled a switchblade on a mouse, and stole his cheese....

FWIW, the 94 book I'm reading says:

Automatic: "Park/Neutral Position Switch"
Manual: "Neutral Sensing Switch"

I'm not questioning that, I just did a few google searches and all across the mustang boards people were told the correct terminology was the safety switch. and Actually when googlizing neutral safety switch, all I came up with were mustang parts.

I agree that your best bet is going to be a junkyard, or a tranny shop that collects old parts "just in case".

funny thing is, i had it on the shop 1month ago for a trans rebuild. 900 bux man, and i find this siliconed up at least twice.

it has its own backup lighjt switch and its fine. hell the truck runs fine with out it but i tired of looking at the CEL. this and a Crank position sensor and im set.

well if you can't find the part, you can always just swap in a 5.0 and a t5... those parts are easy to find and replace

stealership wants 90 bux for a switch somewhat like it. bah

ok is there any reason i shouldent splice the 2 switch wires togeather? im not dumb enough to start the engine in gear. i want to clear the code.
