Overdrive question
I have a 2000 Ranger XLT with 3.0 L and auto. with 75000 miles and the overdrive has shut itself off several times lately while driving. It will stay off and the light keeps flashing till I stop and shut the engine off and re-start then it will work fine. this is an intermitent problem that has happened 4 times over last three weeks. Any ideas as to what may be ailing the system???
If it ain't slipping, Id say its probably a sensore or solenoid, which wont be too bad to fix in most cases, but figuring it out may take a while. I'd call a tranny shop and see if they will give you any suggestions.
Took the truck to local repair shop, they have been in business over 50 years, and they checked it out and found two internal gaskets blown. Got it back yesterday and all seems fine now. Total bill including filterand fluid came to $325.
any idea what gaskets were replaced. did it shift fine into o/d on highway when it wasnt working right
Not sure just what gaskets were replaced, bill just said replaced 2 gaskets.
It shifted into overdrive just fine and when it kicked out the light on dasw would keep flashing but the rpms would drop back to normal setting for the speed I was traveling at the time as if the OD was working fine, but the upshift from 1st to second seemed to lag when starting out from a stop, but then it would shift up thru the gears just fine.
