Posi Track

Is it possible to make your rear end into a posi track. Would I just have to get the parts needed to make the rear end a posi track. Is it just a gear? Or would you have to get a whole new rear end.

I think that you are talking about a Positraction unit which is a GM trade name for a limited slip differential. The Ford equivalent is the Traction-Lok and it is possible to buy the Traction-Lok parts to convert an open differential to limited slip. You could go to the dealer or look online for shops that specialize in diffs. Check the Ford Racing website and eBay.

I am pretty sure I have an 8.8 open with 4.10 gears. What parts should I look up for the traction lok.

I'm thinking about getting a new axle for $200 from the junkyard. The truck caught fire the cab is totally burned as in nothing left. The back was untouched. The truck's exhaust isn't even discolored and everything looks like new. I was told the truck only had about 10k miles on it. It's got 4.10 gears and a factory limited slip. It might've been an Fx4 but did they have the torsen or was it just the LvlII and 2002 FX4's?

The 2002 FX4 and the 2003+ FX4 Level IIs are the only Rangers that came with the 31 spline 8.8" rear axle and the Torsen limited slip. All other limited slip differentials are the Traction-Lok differential.

I bought my ford traction-lok carrier through detroit speed shops for $199. All you need is the carrier, your ring gear will bolt right to it.

I posted awhile back trying to decide what my rear end was, because the guy before me did alot of stuff i didnt know about.....

Found out i have 4.10's in my 03 xlt....

But zach asked if when i spun one tire if the other one went the same way, does that mean its LS

(My friends dodge hemi pos truck says he has a LS but he has a one wheel wonder...and when its jacked up one wheel goes forward and one goes backward...

I know a decent amount about cars, but rear ends confuse me....along with auto tranny's

if you jack up the rear end and spin 1 wheel, the the other wheel will go the opposite direction.....say if you sping the driver side foward, then the passanger side will go backward....

Right, but on my truck, if i spin the drivers side forward, the pass side goes forward also..

if i spin the drive shaft, whichever way, both wheels go the same, i have a 4.10...what
