Problem with trans

Ok so I have a explorer, not sure if you can help but its the 4.0 SOHC with the 5 speed auto. I posted on the explorer forum but I havnt gotton any help in several days, thought it might be a little different here. Here latley it seems like any time I give it alot of gas it will bog down and will not do anything, when moving and give it gas to go into passing gear it will rev to 4000rpm and stay there for a moment and then rev back down and then do as it should. I dont think that it is sliping, my ranger did that and this isnt that. Its like it gets stuck or something. From a dead stop the same thing, it will not even let me give it enough gas to spin a tire. Anyone knows is causing this or how to fix it. Thanks.

sounds like the throttle position sensor and or the fuel filter is nearly plugged up

replace the fuel filter 1st,, if it still bogs down when you mash the gas pedal ,, then it more than likely be the throttle position sensor
