Q. about manual hubs again

Q. about manual hubs again

so if i keep my hubs locked,will that f- something up?

Not really. It just wears parts and reduces gas mileage. If you're in 2WD mode that is.

If you've got a standard part time transfer case and are in 4WD then you don't want them locked on pavement but I'm sure you already know that.

I am convinced that because I had my hubs locked for about 2 years straight prior to putting on some avms, that they were the sole cause for my transfer case to take a poo. My logic being, that because the hubs were engaged, thus causing the front drive shaft to move. This cause my transfer case to stretch the chain, thus not having 4wd.

Could be. What's more likely is that your lube pump spun in it's mount and went bad. Borg-Warners are famous for that and the lack of lube cause all kinds of havoc over time.

One mod for BW t-cases is "staking" the pump body with a screw to keep the press-fit and not-too-tight pump body from spinning and causing loss of lube pressure.

yea, i need to take it in to the shop to get fixed. I am kicking my self in the butt for not getting it fixed this winter, and go figure, we have had one of the snowiest winters yet.
