Quick 4wd question

Quick 4wd question
Ok, so my transfer case motor died so I only have 2wd right now. Is there a way I could just get up under the truck and put it into 4wd by hand or something?

I believe you have to take the shift motor off, and right there, there is a small little knobby deal that you can turn with a pair of pliers.

Don't quote me on that.
