haha great title

but i'm pretty sure it will work, you can swap gears between 28-splines and 31-splines.

also it says in the desc that it was in a mustang with 28-splines

I believe he is right that it will work in both splines, the gear size is what matter, such as a 7.5 or 8.8, so make sure you have a 8.8, it says on the differential cover tag, on a bolt for the cover.

I don't know a whole lot about gears, I haven't done too extensive of work but it looks to me like that posi could just be a LS (Limited Slip), can anyone give some insight on that so called posi in the auction?

You mean axle sizes, and yes make sure you have a 8.8, you can look on the sticker on your door panel and it will give you a code, just look that up here and you'll find out what you have.

you cant use a locker for a 31 spline on a 28. theres 31 splines on the locker and your axle shafts are only 28...
gears you can because they have nothing to do with the spline count on the axle shafts..

ohhhh
i misread the origional post.. my bad
i thought it said the locker was for a 31 spline and he had 28..

yes, if the locker's for a 28spline 8.8 and he has a 28 spline 8.8 it'll work

yea i have the 8.8 with an open 4:10 diff and i want to put a posi traction unit in it. the only thing im wondering is that the rangers have 28 spline axels and if so this locker is exactly what ill need then.

Yes the locker will work on your axle. In the ebay description it says it was in a 28-spline 8.8 Mustang axle, which is the same axle you have in your truck.

it will work but you will need to have it set up for your rearend, shims between the bearings. i would just buy a powertrax locker. Its easy to put in with regular tools. It works better to i wish i never put the factory one in mine. There horrible i always get one wheel peel with it.
