removal of front drive shaft

removal of front drive shaft
i have a 2001 4x4 ranger, can i run the truck with the front drive shaft out ? changing gears in front and back but front not ready and rear is shot. i have donor axles and front not ready yet. so will it hurt anything driving with front shaft out
