removing manual tranny ranger 4x4

I need to change the clutch on a 91 ranger 4x4. My question is, can I pull the tranny with the transfer case attached or do I need to pull the transfer case first before dropping the tranny? The transfer case has a motorized shifting set up, if that matters?

I've done both, and if you pull the trans with the transfer case attached, it's a big, unwieldy, unbalanced pig. It'll try to rotate on it's axis when you pop it free from the engine. It can be done, but it will try to rotate/fall off the jack. I promise that much.

+1 ^^^

It depends on your shop setup and jacks available

If doing it with minimal jacks and alone then remove transfer case and then remove trans

Then remove transfer case first, just 6 extra bolts
