Shift shaft oil leak

I'm looking for information about my 99 ford ranger. I'm going to basically rebuild this truck over. I bought it damaged and it was an automatic that had a manual transmission swap. I have a transmission oil leak from what seems to be the shift shaft detent assembly. I'm all the way in the Bahamas & need help finding where to order this & install or information on how to permanently fix this leak.

Can you post a photo showing where you think it’s leaking? Are you referring to the detents for the shift rails? You’re likely leaking from the fill plugs at the front back of the top cover (which holds the shift fork rails), the hole the gear shift lever goes in or the seal between the case and the top cover. There’s also a few bolts that go through the case. You’re sure it’s ATF from the manual tranny?

This leak is on the passenger side of the gearbox. There is a hole that has no plug in it. As I drive the oil comes out. I did research & that year truck takes advantage fluid & not gear oil. I will attach a photo of where the oil is leaking from

This picture.is from a manual transmission that was just sitting out but they don't want to take that off the box to give to me.

There are Dorman freeze plugs the right size that can be used to repair that. It is a good idea to do all four holes while you are in there. I sealed mine with silicone before the original rubber plugs started leaking. That worked very well too. Since your plug is missing the freeze plug is the best way to go.

Okay, you have a right hand drive vehicle and the passanger side is the left side (as they sit looking forward), correct? Most of us here are in N. American and familiar with the left side being the driver side.

I believe you're talking about a hole for a pivot shaft for the lever that moves the fifth/reverse synchro collar. If you're missing the whole lever assembly you must not be able to shift into reverse or fifth (OD). I doubt you'll find those parts available new, so your best bet is a junk yard that has a M5R1 that has bearing and/or gear problems and they're willing to sell parts off of it. Attached are a diagram and a photo of the assembly that goes through that hole. Is this the area you're asking about?

You're refering to the fill plugs? You can see one in the top right corner of his photo? Sounds to me like that's not his problem.
