Stronger CV's - Front Locker

I have an Aussie Locker sitting on my floor right now, planning on putting it in on saturday..

i have manual hubs so im not worried about snapping crap on the road..

But anyways, my question is when i snap a shaft.. (i wish it wouldnt happen, but i have that bad feeling one will...)
1)Wheres the most common place on the shaft for it to snap?
2)They make Alloy axle shafts.. so has anyone seen/heard of an upgraded, stronger CV shaft?
3) who else is locked, and had a lot of problems?
im just looking for information to prepare my self..

Thanks
-Matt

Your best bet would be to talk to your local driveline shop, they would prolly be able to point you to a company who can make them. Second Id check out shops that make sandrails, as most sandrails us CV style shafts in the rear.

i would just run it first. with 33s i doubt you will snap stuff right off the bat. I mean Scott ran 37s with a locker and had no issues with CVs

it all has to do with how you wheel it eh?

i was reading his "more breakage" thread

he said he had a "genuine gear quick lock"
... i want to push my truck, i have a few times, and i have found a few hills where i can test the front locker, 3 wheel peel .. the problem is, the nearest place i go legally wheel is an hr and a half away.. and no trailer room

thats the major stuff, rocks and what not that i will actually snap something probably.
im just waiting to get it as a full trail rig and wheel the **** out of it..

build it, run it, break it, build it.

when it brakes, just put a stronger part in. Thats the way I do things on my truck.

A front locker doubles the max possible torque that can be transmitted through either half shaft. So, you have to use your head, avoid abusive driving and let the locker pull you through. This is especially true in low range because the torque has already been multiplied by 2.48.

As far as breakage goes, I have always seen it at the outer CV joint.

If you want a trail rig, get a trail rig. I picked up my sammi for $1100. You could easily spend that on your ranger trying to build it up and wouldn't be near as capable (plus if your ranger breaks, you're F***ed, lol)

i know, but you could easily drop a grand+ on axles alone then figure in lockers, upgraded shafts, gears, wheels, tires

i dont plan on wheelin my truck too hard till i have something to tow it with
