I'm getting ready to do the axle seals on my 03 xlt extended cab (Diff code 86) and was wondering if anyone had tips or tricks for how to remove the cross pin bolt without breaking it? I've seen videos of how to extract if after it breaks but nothing on what to do before trying to get it out. Should I just tap on the carrier and hit it with penetrating oil? I've already ordered a new one to replace it with.
