Welcome to the forum

Good to include engine size/model as that has lot to do with what works

2.8l V6?

If so you can used an M5OD-R1(M5R1) from a 4.0l Ranger, 1990-2011, 4WD version, as long as you keep your transfer case

But yes a TK5 from a 2.8l or 2.9l will work fine, 4WD version to keep yours 4WD, 2WD versions will work but not with a transfer case
Also Mitsubishi FM145 or 146 from 2.9l

it is a 2.8l v6

so the 2wd transmission cant be made into 4wd even if i switch the output shaft, tail housing and transfer case?

I bought a fm145 but the input shaft was shorter then the tk5 and it has the internal slave. The TK5 has an external slave and i didnt want to do all of that swapping around.

Yes, you can rebuild a 2wd TK5 into a 4WD if your parts are still OK
