tranny doesnt want to shift

ok my problem that my tranny doesnt want to shift in to 2 gear unless i hit the gas hard and it jerks really hard when it down shifts through 2 gear. and sometimes when i am driving it will down shift for no reason and bounce off the rev limiter a few times before up shifting again. i check the fluid and it is were its suppose to be and its still red but it has a burnt smell to it. i have had a few problems with it before and i had the dip stick fitting crack and ford fixed it a while back and everything has worked fine untill this past few days. my truck has never really been off road so i know that the breather its packed full or mud or water. and it an auto by the way. if anybody has any idea what it go be would be great because if i dont tell the dealer whats pretty much wrong they just take a look at it and say its fine like the dip stick thing that broke i had to point out where it was leaking from before they fixed right. and there is only 30000 miles so i still have warranty left on it. thanks guys

did you ever go in for the TSB that puts an additive in the trans fluid? apparently they used the wrong fluid from the factory. call your dealer with your VIN handy and they can tell you if your truck is in the TSB. my wifes is, it shifts hard and sometimes doesnt go into reverse

ok today i decide after work to go look under my truck and see if there was anything unusual and i found out not only is there some sorta of goofy a$$ thing going on with the tranny but i have an oil leak around the back of the oil pan and to make sure that it wasnt just for an oil change i wiped it off and drove around for a while and it was back again and it seems as if the rear seal of the pan is bad and it leaks and runs down the tranny i dont know if this could be why the tranny is acting up or not. but it could be from the ford techs screwing something up when it was in for a tranny repair before which would suprize me (put the wrong oil in my dads car three time in a row) its not a major leak but one that has to get fixed. i never really notice a change in the oil level but that could because i get a oil change every 4 to 6 weeks.

Yea, if the oil is gettin inside the the tranny I would say thats prolly the reason its having such a hard time shifting then again stock ford trannys arent that great so it could just be it dying on u?

The erratic shifting could be due to valve body problems or a solenoid/wiring malfunction. The transmission diagnostics can catch some problems like this. The OD cancel light will flash if you have a transmission Diagnostic Trouble Code stored in the PCM.
