Tranny Drain Plug Question
Those of yall with a tranny pan containing a drain plug. Do you all apply any antiseize or threadlocker to the bolt when reinstalling? I just bought a pan with a drain plug and want to make sure it doesn't pop open while driving or rust shut. Thank you in advance for your help!
I would use a Lock tight product on transmission pan drain plug.
Reason being, the loss of drain plug and fluid could cause significant damage and cost to transmission, there is no ATF low light or any other warning this is happening.
The pan itself is easily accessible and easy to remove if drain bolt ever did "get stuck", so no real harm done in that respect, vs failure the other way, i.e. no ATF left
Oil pan drain bolt is something completely different, not at all easy to pull out the oil pan on most vehicles if drain plug gets stuck
