Tranny leak....WTF

So I've talked about this leak in previous threads. I've gone to Ford 3 times for this thing. The 3rd time they told me it was just excess fluid from the last time they "repaired" it (I noticed the leak about 3 days after the 2nd time I took it in for same issue).

Anyway here's a couple of pics. In the 2nd pic you'll notice a drip forming on the right-hand side of the seal bead. The cross memeber behind the drip is 'wet' from the oil. The odd thing is that it doesn't form a puddle under the truck. I'm baffled by this and right now with the dealership putting my dual friction clutch in I'm hoping they address this issue with the tranny dropped for the clutch install.

get under there and pressure wash it all off or scrub it off. then once its clean you will really know how much it leaks.

sucks its giving you problems again, but if its not puddling up then maybe it really isnt that bad.

what is weird is why it looks so dried up ? ?

It cooks off as I drive. That's how I first noticed it. I was out in SE AZ road cruising for snakes and stopped for a little mojave rattler. When I stopped I noticed the smell and it seemed to be coming from my cab. I moved the snake off the road, well away from me and then tried to pinpoint it. Then's when I noticed the leak and oil spray on the cross memeber and very nearby components.

i have the same problem too, my tranny leaks in the exact same spot, ive washed my truck over and over and it still leaks there, im thinking of taking it in and just getting it re-sealed for that would be my easiest choice...i think so any ideas thoughts advice would be nice to, thanks!

Mine's been resealed 2x. #rd time they told me it was excess oil from last sealing.

thats stupid cuz "excess" oil doesnt stop leakin even when its at the right level, if theres a leak its gonna leak excess oil or not...the guys who re-sealed your tranny should be smacked upside the head with a textbook.

My roommate's truck leakes from the same spot, but it is a '93 with a good number of miles on it.

My '01 is bone dry underneath. (knock on wood)

stupid question.....

what exactly is the component that's bolted to the rear of the tranny in my pics? The piece to the right of the seal? I want to assume it's my t-case, but yet something tells me it is not.

I'm just curious as I have a new agenda while I sit here eating breakfast. Slight hint, I still have no truck back and it was dropped off at 8am on Wednesday. Letters are being typed and heads are gonna roll.

Thankfully the bike (pedal power) ride to work is only a mile.
