'03 ,2.3, 5 spd I dont care for the ATF as tranny fluid, seems awful thin to me, any substitutes? Why cant i just put 90 wgt in it?

Ps. That slave cylnder that slips over the tranny shaft sucks too, sucks bad. What moron though that up.

personally ive been running pennzoil syncromesh fluid in mine, its about 5-7 bucks a qt at autozone. ive had it in the trans for almost a year now, 12,000 miles with no problems. 90 wt is way too heavy, i did that once with a 4 speed manual jeep trans and ruined the syncros. there is a mobil 1 synthetic atf available.

I've been running B&M Trick Shift synthetic in mine and it seemed like my tranny loved it. Shifted a lot smoother too. If I go with anything else it would be the Mobil 1 synthetic.
