Trans just gave up on me....

Hi, so i was driving to school this morning, totally normal, and all of the sudden i pull out of a turn and the transmission acts like it has just dropped into neutral. I shifted the trans into first and second and it will go its just the drive that is screwed up. Any advice before i tear into it?

2003 Ranger 3.0l will have the 5R44E automatic

Most likely Overdrive sprang issue, so needs a rebuild
The "coast clutch" is used in manual 1st and 2nd, which is why they still work

Good look here at the 5R44E: https://www.ranger-forums.com/projec...ild-log-61225/

Add a second trans cooler if you don't have one, automatic failure is almost always heat related, it is cumulative, so every time you go up a hill or carry/tow a load trans over heats and you shorten its lfe
