Transfer case adjustment?

I have a 1989 ranger 4x4 and I am thinking that my transfer case is stuck right on the brink of 2h and 4h. Does anyone know of any adjustments on a transfer case so you can adjust it to make sure it is actually in 2h

It is a manual shift. It seems like the 4wd does not really line up with the diagram that is in the ****

check the condition of the linkages and the bushings in the linkages. the bracketry itself has some, but very little adjustment. likely a guide bushing is shot and is sloppy
