Icon4 Transfer Case weird noise

my transfer case (i believe) occasionally makes a little "ting" when i hit the gas from a stop. you know the sound you sometimes get when you put it in reverse. it doesn't do it all the time but it occasionally does. do you guys think it may be the fluid which needs to be changed (have not changed it since i bought it and have put around 21k on it) or is that a normal noise? it has been doing it for a while now. would it having a l/s have anything to do with it?
Please let me know. Thanks

It's much more likely to be a bad u-joint from your description.

i vote u-joint. a slip shaft would be a clunk. our 4x4 trucks dont have slip yokes, they have slip shafts
