Hi guys my transmission is giving me a ton of issues and i was wondering what years trannys would fit on a 2000 3.0l and if a tranny off kf a 4.0l would fit or if the bell housing were interchangeable thanks
RF's Exiled Elite
The 4.0 bell housing is different. The other engines (2.9, 2.5, 2.3 etc) share the same bell housing as the 3.0.

No, that info is incorrect
3.0l Vulcan has unique bellhousing pattern, only a transmission from another 3.0l will fit
Also 2WD or 4x4 matters, not interchangeable.
Manual transmission from 1991 to 2008 3.0l Ranger or Mazda B3000 will work
Automatics are a different story as you need to match computer software
1995 to 2000 Ranger/B3000 3.0l should use a 4R44E automatic, so 1995-2000 only will work
2001 and up got the 5R44E which you can't use
But still need to match bellhousing bolt pattern so trans must be from a 3.0l or B3000
And match 2WD or 4x4, specifically
Since 2000/2001 were transition years for the 3.0l check Drivers Door Label for TRANS code
T = 4R44E
D = 5R44E <<< late model 2000 3.0l could have this trans
To clarify previous post
4.0l OHV or SOHC and the 2.8l and 2.9l Ranger engines used the same bellhousing pattern
2.3l or 2.5l LIMA engines were the same engine and had their own separate bolt pattern, but 2.3l trans would fit 2.5l as well and visa versa
2.3l DOHC Duratec engine, 2001.5 and up Rangers, had another different bolt pattern
As well as the 3.0l Vulcan engine with it's own different bolt pattern
M5OD-R1(M5R1) is the manual transmissions used in Rangers since 1988 or so, but that is the TRANSMISSION MODEL<<<<<<!!!! not what it will bolt to
Like 4R44E is a TRANSMISSION MODEL not what it will fit

Explorer never had a 3.0l Vulcan engine, they used 4.0l or V8 until 2011 then turboed 2.0l, 2.3l or 3.5l, and NA 3.5l or 3.7l
Look at your Drivers door label so you know what transmission you have FIRST, then go from there, if it is TRANS "D" then you can use 2001 to 2008 5R44E from 3.0l
If "T" then 1995 to 2000 3.0l 4R44E
