Transmission Fluid Leaking 4.0L 2wd

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the forum here. I have had this truck since new, and it has been a good little truck so far. 1 year after buying it new I had an issue with the output shaft seal leaking. Ford fixed for free under warranty. I think I have the same issue again but I think it is only 1 of the possible multiple leaks. The picture is from yesterday when I got up under to change oil and I noticed trans fluid dripping from seal, along with the entire output shaft area being covered with fluid. I do need to clean off the dirt but it has been raining a lot here in TX and keep getting mud up under there.

The other place it looks like I have a leak is by the this bolt on the top half of the trans just above the pan gasket seal. It looks like it may be coming from this bolt? What could the bolt be and is it common for the transmission to leak from this area on the Ranger?

Thanks in advance for the info.

By the way it is a 2011 Ranger sport 4dr 2wd 4.0L 108,000 miles.

looked more closely today and I think most of the leaking is from the output shaft seal. There does seem to be some coming out of the bolt/plug area on last picture but Ill have to deal with that in the next week or so. I think I am losing quite a bit of transmission fluid from the output shaft so going to try and replace tomorrow. I know I need to chock wheels, undo bolts for drive shaft by the diff and then pull drive shaft out. Once I pull the old seal, and install the new one, is there anything else I need to do before replacing drive shaft? I saw one person on youtube put some wheel bearing grease on the yoke before sliding back into trans but I do kind of wonder about putting something like that on a piece that fits into the back of the trans? To me it seems like a bad idea.. Any tips anyone? Don't want to ruin the truck.

***Update***

Hi Everyone!

After watching a couple different youtube vids replacing the seal looked fairly straight forward.

I did find removing the seal was a little more difficult on my truck than it looked in the videos. They just used a flathead screwdriver and it popped right off. I tried to be real careful and eventually got it off but also scuffed up the surface about halfway in from the outside on the aluminum edge that the metal ring on the seal seats against. Picture attached.. its on the left of the outside ring. You guys think this marring of the flat surface will cause a leak or is the rubber part and inside of the housing what holds the fluid in?

Additionally the slip yoke looks like it has some pitting/light scratches/etching im guessing from mud/water on the surface that is supposed to be smooth that slides into the rubber seal. I have attached a picture of this as well. Do I need to replace this to prevent it from prematurely wearing out the new seal? Or maybe sand with 1000 grit sand paper to smooth it out again?

Last question.. on the inside of the end of the slip yoke all of the teeth look the same except for a squared groove going down just one side. It looks too clean to be a broken tooth (not sure if that is the right term) so I am thinking that is just to make sure it lines up correctly when fitting it back into the end of the transmission but I am not sure. Anyone know if that is normal or not? Picture of this included as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.
