transmission issue

So i searched and found a bit of info on here but not quite what i was looking for... About once every couple weeks my overdrive light starts flashing, goes off after its restarted. Now from what i read its either the transmission crapping out or just a sensor going. It still shifts perfectly and this only occurs when I'm on the highway not in stop and go traffic, so i brought it to Mazda and they say the fifth gear is failing which i have a hard time believing (its an 08 with 18000km on it) because it still seems to shift fine. But then again these are also the people that tried telling my that you can put a 16" tire on a 15" rim lol... So anyone have any ideas?

They're also saying it was caused by offroading, i have connections at the dealership and they will warranty it anyways but they said if Mazda Canada decides to look into it then I'm pretty much screwed.

Hey i just stumbled on this post, im surprised no one got back to you.

I ran into a guy with an 08 and his tranny was full out slipping. I know he beats on it pretty hard tho.

I dont see how they can pull that Off-Roading Bullsh1t on you.

id go to an independant tranny shop that will diagnose it for free.

LMK whats going on with this

long story short, transmission was replaced, found out the frame was messed up (still dont understand that one). They figure it was messed up from the factory... Anyways it was covered by warranty to the tune of $7000

I'm very glad you had a warranty. That's alot of money for repairs on such a new truck.
