Transmission jerky shift and poor performance after flywheel replacement
Transmission jerky shift and poor performance after flywheel replacement
Hello everyone,
New here, but I have a 1989 Ranger XLT 4x4 with the A4LD that broke the flywheel a couple weeks ago and the camshaft to flywheel spacer. I replaced the flywheel and spacer, but now all of a sudden having issues with when in the mornings after a cold start it doesn’t want to shift from first to second until almost redlining on rpms. When it does finally shift it shifts hard and then from there the shifts are jerky and seems to go into overdrive too early at like 45mph (kinda just goes gutless and chugs). Would the modulator do that? Not a transmission guy at all and when pulling the tranny I messed with the adjustable modulators ****. Would that be the cause?
Truck shifted fine with the broke flywheel on the way back home just made a racket, but now having this issues. Also, when slowing down to turn from going like 55mph the engine kind of Boggs down and the rpms drop and then goes back up to normal if that helps with anything. Bought the truck for $400 and odometer only shows 45,000 miles assuming it’s rolled over At least once with only two previous owners.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
