Transmission Tail Housing Seal

Hello Ranger Forum,

2004 Mazda B3000 DS 3.0L | 5R55E Transmission

I removed the transmission to replace the engine rear crank seal. At the same time, I replaced the u-joints while the drive shaft was out. I made sure to mark the drive shaft orientation to the differential.

Well, once everything was reinstalled, the transmission rear seal in the tail housing started to drip. I replaced the rear seal a couple of times, but that darn leak is still happening.

Not sure where I went wrong, maybe transmission alignment to drive shaft, or did I need to replace the bushing in the tail housing?

Feedback always appreciated.

Check spline shaft that slides in transmission for nicks/burs.

Thanks stumpman for the suggestion. I will check the spline during the next attempt to fix the drips.
