transmisssion r&r

2.3l 5-spd. trans. 2wd. clutch lost itself over the winter on a negative temp day and pedal was gone, filled up, bled system, and all seemed ok till now. pedal feels "odd" but performs just fine, checked fluid level and it SLIGHTLY dropped. im thinkin a clutch master cylinder (i believe thats in the firewall) is in order sometime soon to try and start. if the problem is still there then i guess ill need to change my slave cylinder and remove the trans. my questions are as follows:

1)how much and long of a job is it to remove the trans from these trucks?

2)how much and long of a job is it to change the clutch master cylinder(firewall?) in these trucks?

im assuming it's GOTTA be one of these thats causing fluid loss, nothin else in the hydraulic system to let it escape, the hose seems visually dry as much as i can see too!

anyway thanks for anyones help & info. in advance

It took me probably 6 hours to remove my auto. I know auto's are bigger but it really is a bigger task if youve never removed one before or if its never been out.

Im not saying it will take you 6 hours because this was my first time but plan for longer

Pretty straight forward. The exhaust was sort of a pita to remove, but ive got a 3.0, 5 speed. Not sure of anything special you should know about. Your in the right direcion though, slaves seem to fail a lot. Might want to do the clutch if its never been done before. Theres kits on ebay for cheap that should have all you need,

He has a 2.3 so all you do it u remove the downpipe from the manifold (2 nuts)

Remove the driveshaft (4 bolts at the rear)

Disconnect electrical connections

Remove the tranny crossmember (2 nuts and bolts and put a jack under it)

Lower the jack enough where its easy to get to the top bolts and i think it has 8 but im not sure...

Then disconnect the slave... its easy you will see it.... and thats pretty much it...
