Trouble connecting master cylinder to slave cylinder!

Had to replace master cylinder in my 1988 4X4 Ranger. Can't plug the hydraulic line into the Slave ! I've tried several size O-rings. they looked right. but some seem too small and leak others too large to push in ! Anyone have any idea what to do ? Even the Ring that came with the Master Kit Leaked !

Clutch right?

There were two different types of Quick Connect fittings used in Rangers for hydraulic clutch connection to slave in bell housing

They look like this: https://res.cloudinary.com/powerrevi...ybocej3tj3pbdc

You need to match Master with slave
Since its a 1988, and has probably had more than one clutch replacement, there would be no telling which slave model is in there now
There was no change in the slave or masters, just in the connector used

RonD, thanks for your thoughts. the 88' has the black metal push in with a sealing O-Ring . 92' and up have the brass connection! Can't get O-Rings to seal !

Maybe master is 1993 and slave is 1988?

Never had that issue and there are not alot of post about the issue either so not a very common problem
Did find this, but not sure it applies to the pre-1993 connection, maybe: https://www.therangerstation.com/for...ch-line.64971/

RonD, thanks again. the Tranny is an 88' by the still visible plate on the side. The master cylinder kit with hydraulic line to the Slave is an 88'! The coupling parts male and female are black original type. Picked up 7 more O-Rings today at Ace Hardware. All seem to look the right size diameter and thickness. Tomorrow will tell. Hopefully in my favor!
