I could get you a 2.72 LS out of the rear end of a Crown Vic if you want it.

I'm no expert, but it seems to me, if you're trying to turn 33" tall tires with a 4 cyl engine ANYTHING in the 300's is going to be to high. I had 29.5" tires with the stock 3.73 rear for a while. My 3.0 auto would constantly "hunt," back and forth between 4th & 5th for a gear going up hills or into a strong headwind. I would think something in the lo 400's would be a much better choice. Just my 2 cents.

I agree. I have 4.10s and 31s and its kinda sad. You also have a 7.5 rear end so you might want to look for a 8.8 out of another ranger.

x2 on finding a n 8.8 axle will be able to handle larger tires. You can even get one out of an explorer that has disc brakes 4.10 and a l/s already installed. Just need to re-weld some new shock mounts and leaf spring perches.

almost every year, you have to check though some might not have l/s and some might have other ratios aswell

ok. this is retarded. i run 4.56 with a 4.0l 5 speed on 33 12.5s. i wish i had more gear. a 4 cyl on 33 10.5s. id at least get 4.88s if not 5.13s. look at some numbers on the 4 cyl. they make power at higher rpms. my 4.0l sucked with 3.73 and 33s. if your motor is in its power range you'll actually be able to use OD. and you wont lose much mpg. 3.73s will have you climbing hills in 3 gear. its not fun. and when i say i wish i had more gear im not saying my truck is a dog, its not. you'll thank yourself in the long run. gears are expensive and 4.10s suck will 33s. drive a truck with 4.88s or 5.13s and you will know what i mean. if you guys that say 4.10s drove with 4.56s you'd say what was i thinking running 4.10s. just my .02 cents

yea i know u should get more gear but i can get an explorer axle in the $100 ranger. and the whole climbing hillls i already got to do it in 3rd on a long hill i will do this for now and later on get more gear. the way the heat is getting work is about to get real busy so there wont be to much time to do anything to it.
