Isnt there a special way to tighten it?
Like tighten to 140 ft/lbs, loosen half turn, tighten again to 60 ft/lbs, stand on one leg, cover one eye, and make sure there is a full moon?

Most every car with front bearings like that need to be tightened a certain way. Most people have their own theory. I can about get mine as tight as needed by HAND. So consider that...

You are using a cotter pin and locking ring correct?

I was about to start a thread..

my axle your only supposed to tighten by hand, but i'm having an issue with the outer spindle nut coming loose.. when i put it together yesterday i gave it a little tug with the ratchet attached to the socket.

no idea if your 2wd or 4wd but on my 4wd, i have to tighten up the first nut pretty tight first round, then back it off and tighten up again but checking the rotor by turning it to make sure its not over tight, then the second one gets put on with 150FT/LBS.

Ny thought too, shouldn't there be a cotter pin in there and a locking ring to hold it in place?
