01-current headlights in 99 w/o header panel swap
So here is the thing I am wondering... I want to switch out my 99 headlights and marker for a 01-current headlight and marker set. I know that the 01 lights are not as tall, and so there would be a space below that I need to fill, but I was wondering if the mounting positions are the same...
I guess I am asking if I can directly replace my headlights and then fill the extra space, or would I have to replace the header panel also.... I would like to keep my current grill, that is why I ask.
Please let me know what you guys think... thanks

It's not possible. You need a header panel and a new grill, the newer grill includes trim to fill te void under the lights and the mounting is diffrent for the lights on the header panel I believe.
the header panel is bolted in, its the piece the headlighs are bolted to. You need to remove the headlights and grill, then you can remove the header panel. 01 up changed header panels from 2000 prior.
It's not possible w/o fiberglassing. We tried on my buddy's 98 with my old 01 headlamps....no success. So one day later, he swapped to the 01-03 header panel and now he's rockin' the lamps.

but the grill is shaped the same right? so like maybe a hybrid header panel and then the 99 grill 01 lights would line up??
this sounds like more work than i was thinkin....
