05 Ford Ranger and 06 side mirrors

Ok, fellas i want to get rid of these small side mirrors on my 05 Ranger and put on the bigger mirrors from a 06 Ranger, so i guess want i wanted to know is can i replace and 05 mirrors and replace them with the 06 mirrors without no problems, IMO i dont see no problem with it but i just wanted to make sure. Thanks in advanced. Gety

i think you have to drill out the holes for the 06 mirrors to work.

I think it's just the lower mounting hole that has to be drilled out. I could be wrong though. Other than a little drilling they'll fit no problem.

On my '01, I had to drill out all 3 door holes for proper mirror housing alignment in the door. You'll also have to use washers to space the backside that way your nut will actually be holding onto something that's part of the inside door sheetmetal. The pictures will illustrate what I can't type. lol.

The reason for the drilling is the 06+'s dig deeper into the door to mount. Some people have bypassed drilling the doors by modding the mirrors. They shaved the parts that are the problems areas, then put the studs back in the mirror, then put the mirror up and mounts up just like factory 05 and older.
