06+ flares

i actually like the look for some strange reason, so i want to pull mine off since they look like *** anyways, and put new ones on.

i know they will line up as all 98+ beds are, (iirc, the 97 were slightly different in mounting), but from what i find is, i need black ones, so i order the unpained ones or are the platnum grey ones i want? I have no idea, i just need black to match the rest of my existing trim since its a 02 fx4.

thanks in advance.

i think you will need to tap holes all over your fenders to get them in...

and im not sure on the 06+ but i know any before that the EDGE ones are painted to match and then the others are gray textured plastic..

The flares on the sport edition (like mine) are color matched but on the FX4 and LVII there plastic grey. And ya you will need to tap wholes, alot of wholes.

2 sticks. I'm just Jealous.

Dude, you need to post pics once the new flares are on. I do believe you are the first on this forum to put on 06 flares on an older ranger.

question for you guys:

i dig the newer style flare with the 'rivet' look on them (like the yellow 06 sport above me has).

i have an 04 Edge with flares already.

if i wanted some new black flares where would i find them and how hard would they be to replace?

They mount using push pins and those push in rivet thingys. Easiest way to remove the front is remove the inner fenders, and then pop those pins on the inside of the fender. Theres a couple pushin rivet thingy at the bottom. then itll come out. Same story for the rear.

Oh yea...and when your ready to sell those old flares...please do let me know. I need em.

fx4 wannabe, if you are going to paint the flares, i will sell you my old ones. im never going ot use them again.

oh yeah, if anyone wants- i can pull the part numbers for the shiftboots, bezel, and floorplate for the level 2 shifters. i replaced it all after a bad expericnce with a bodylift, haha, i will see if i can find it. It might be a nice way to go when adding your second stick.

go with the 02-03 set up. its sexy.

i cant find the part numbers, i will probably have to call the dealership, give em my vin and pull the numbers. its 3 parts i know if, floor plate, bezel and the two boots. but, what i do remember is the bezel is 50, floorplate was 210 and the boots were 30 for tcase and 50 for tranny. so its expensive. worth the cost imo.
