06+ mirror Upgrade

IS there any advantage to putting the 06+ mirrors on an 05 older ranger?

The previous owner tried his hand at body work on my truck and FUBARED the mirrors. So I figured I might go to the 06+ mirrors. Any advantage to them?

One of the best mods I ever did to the truck were these mirrors.

Totally worth it. I too was skeptical at first because they were so squareish and I dropped the coin for OE brand new from Ford. But was VERY happy after I put on one and drove it.

Well worth it mod that doesn't cost alot.

I have the parts for the mirror mod just no time… should have done it last summer.
One of the first mods when I get to SoCal.

Here is an ’06+ kit for directional and/or heated mirrors, not the cheapest but:

Muth Mirror Systems - Ford Ranger Signal® Mirror 2006 - 2010

And for the guys in the northeast the Heater Wiring Kit, if you don’t have heated mirrors already:

Muth Mirror Systems - H-Mod (Heater Conversion kit)

They look good, manuals are on each page so take a look.

x2

I did the same thing when I purchased mine. I felt the best with the official Ford versions.

I made the leap & just purchased this setup about 20 minutes ago! lol

Maybe this will be the motivation I need to actually install my mirrors....

Some people prefer OEM parts to reduce the chance of getting a bad part

I just have manual mirrors - so mine wasn't 'painful'.

I ordered mine from Tasca Auto Parts: Tasca Auto Parts - Online Ford Dealer

When it comes to official Ford dealers, they always seem to have the best pricing.

As of 8/20/12:

Part #8L5Z17682BA - Right Mirror Assy 2006-11, manual, w/o mirror cover = $65.82
Part #8L5Z17683BA - Left Mirror Assy 2006-11, manual, w/o mirror cover = $65.82

Sub Total = $131.64
UPS Ground Shipping = $14.48
Grand Total = $146.12

Did you have to order the covers separately? Just curious. I already have 07 mirrors with chrome covers on mine.

Those are the textured black ones that don't have/need covers.

I buy so much from my dealer I get 25% right off the top. Even more on some items.

I would MUCH rather buy Ford parts than any type of aftermarket

Same! Manual textured black. My truck has cruise and leather tilt wheel but no power options. Although I didn't pay quite as much as you did...I paid aftermarket prices today for OEM back in '07! lol. I was told they changed part numbers and increased prices. And those prices you posted....are CHEAP!

Many aftermarket ones come with both paintable AND chrome caps, should you chose that type. You must pick either black textured or the one with caps....they aren't really that interchangeable. Like you can't out caps on a texted plain mirror and expect it to look right...it won't.

I've purchased 3 sets of aftermarket mirrors....two sets manual and one set power. All seemed of high quality without any crazy vibration while driving like many report with aftermarket mirrors. They were purchased from LKQ under the brand Keystone and they were approx $50 per side for black textured manual and $65 a side for power paint/chrome cap. The one with caps came with both a chrome cap and a paintable black cap. This may not be the case with different brands though.

And for kicks and giggles...
