Icon5 1993 rear window - 4 pane

I have (0nce again) a 1993 Ranger. I bought is in 1996, sold it to my Dad in 1998, and got it back earlier this year. The rear window will not close completely, so I am keeping it "sealed" for now with duct tape. I thought I just needed to lube the tracks and the windows would slide all the way, but no luck. So, it seems that I need to replace the entire window. I definitely want to keep a slider, but I don't care if it is a 3 or 4 pane window. I am moderately capable, and have room to do the work. Is there any operational difference between the 3 and 4 pane windows? Looks like both are available for the truck. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

1993 to 2008 extended cabs used the same BOLT in rear windows, solid or sliding
1998 and up Regular cabs also used same bolt in window, regular or sliding
All these years are interchangeable
No difference between "3 or 4 pane"

You need to pull back interior trim to remove the 8 bolts, picture here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...3-0333_img.jpg

Then reinstall the new(used) one

Thanks for the quick reply. That photo has 6 bolts, but I assume it is close enough for me to see what I need to do. I saw an online video as well that shows the guy cleaning the metal. Looks doable!

I find the four pane slider to be better in one main way... when I open the slider, I open the passenger side of it that way the air comes in and heads that way.

If I open the drivers side I get the blast of air blowing on me.

When I have a passenger in the truck I can open both side just a little and get the air blowing in the middle.

Colder weather use is just the passenger side opened a little and the side windows closed, this let the heater work easier with the air going out the rear and nothing blowing in the side windows.

With a three window slider, they usually open from the driver's' side towards the passenger side, this allow the air warm or cold to blow in directly on the driver and in colder weather it get cold fast.

My choice if this was a vote, would be the four pane slider, every Ranger I have had, I replace the rear windows with a four pane unit.

Thanks! When I drive any of the cars, I crack both windows on the passenger side. Lets the air circulate and I don't freeze.
