Hey ya'll,

First time posting on here and I'll start off by saying I'm not the most savvy with anything automotive related.

So I drive a 2010 xlt ford ranger that is in need of a tailgate. I stumbled upon one for sale that was on a sport model, year tbd (does that even matter?), but I wanted to know if that tailgate could potentially work on my truck model?
Any additional insight would be helpful!

Rangers had 2 bed WIDTHS
Regular/style side, wheel wells inside the bed, bed is smooth on the outside, seen here: https://s.aolcdn.com/commerce/autoda...OT145D0101.jpg
Stepside/Flare side, bed is flat no wheel wells inside, fenders on the outside, seen here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...o-img_2245.jpg

The Flare side tail gate is narrower than the style side

1993-2011 tailgates are the same from the same style of bed
So a 1994 style side tailgate will fit on a 2010 style side bed
Any year Flare side wouldn't fit any year style side

"Sport" trim Ranger could have either style of bed, and your 2010 could have either style bed, although I think flare side was dropped in 2006, but not sure
