Painting bumper insert & valance

Painting bumper insert & valance
Has anyone tried to paint that plastic insert strip that's on the front bumper and/or the front valance with the foglight cutouts?
With my black grille trim painted (maybe the rest of the grille sometime soon) I'm thinking about painting that gray plastic trim & valance all black... not to mention the gray valance & bumper piece don't match the grill nor the stock fender flares.
I wonder if the paint would crack or peel over time even if I use that Fusion plastic bonding paint...
I guess I could test the plastic on my rear bumper (it's still setting around gathering dust) before I jump into doing something that's gonna be left on the truck.

I just did my sons 97 with a couple coats of plastic primer, 3 coats of Krylon Fusion black, and 2 coats of clear coat. It looks great, but I don't have a wear test for you yet. It's only been about 2 months. Anything looks better than the gray it came with though.
Go for it. It's cheap and easy to restore along the way.

Well, I got bored earlier today & I went ahead & painted that plastic trim & valance...
It turned out Schweeeeeeet! It's a little more high gloss than I'd like, but I'm sure it will fade over time.
Fusion gloss black (3 to 5 coats), no clear in case it gets a chip from roadkill I can just touch it up later.
This stuff dries in about 10-15 minutes too.
Pics to come whenever I get all this over spray cleaned up.

Finally got a few pics for your enjoyment...
Before, gray:
After, black:
It turned out better than I expected. Both pieces are really shiny, so I might give them a wipe down with some low shine armor all this weekend.
It's been in the high 90's this week & it hasn't came off yet. Hopefully that fusion paint will hold up.
I guess the next thing to get a fresh coat of paint is the black piece between the grille & bumper. Roadkill has taken it's toll on that old paint.

Turned out great! Did you do the back bumper also? Is the rest of your truck two tone? The only other suggestion to consider for the front is to paint the grill. My son's been on for two months and still holding strong.
Even had to scrub it 5 times due to love bug season. For those of you up north that don't know what love bugs are, the basically look like a lighting bug without the theatrics. They spend their very short life connected together, right before they splatter all over your car. Best to remove them right away as the sun turns their splattered guts acidic and they eat your paint. In May and September, you go through swarms of them. They don't bite, they just make a mess of vehicles. Here's an example of a day's drive...not my vehicle.

Anyway, so far so good with the fusion black!

I replaced my rear bumper several years with a roll pan (check my profile for my other posts, I'm sure there are a few pics of it)...
I have a fiber/resin roll pan I had a local paint shop shoot some black on when they were painting another black vehicle. Only charged me $20 to paint, clear & buff it.
I just finished painting the grill top & side trim. I thought I'd leave the center section gray for a while. It's kinda growing on me this way.
