ive got a 98 4x4... the grile and bumpers are the gray ones that ford made and im sick of the way it looks... overall i wanna paint the grille and bumpers but for right now i wanna do the grille. im not the best at painting but im gonna do at least the grille myself.. i have several questions that ive searched and found nothing that really helps in my situation since my grille is not chrome, but gray. do i need to sand it down to rough it up? do i need to use primer spray? do i just use the krylon auto paint stuff in a can? and can i use the clear coat over the top of it???

 

you should paint ur grille and bumpers red, it'd look awesome lol

 

idk if i like the color matched so much?? i think swap the grill and bumper to the chrome style!!!!

 

ehhh... chrome is too expensive to change everythin out for... and then it would just look stock again... but ive got my grille out, painted, cleared, and drying right now...

 

I would ruff up the bumper. Take it off. It is not too hard and then sand it paint it clear it and reinstall for a new truck. I painted my grill and bumper. I painted the grill White to match the truck and the bumper Blue along with my fender flares and lights(check Pic) because I love blue.
