98 to Edge Bumper and Valance Swap Questions.

Hey guys,

I'm looking to swap out my 98 XLT bumper and valance for the 01-03 Edge bumper with the EDGE valance. After doing some looking on ebay, I believe I have found what I need, but did have some questions.

Will I need different bumper brackets or will the ones from my truck work? Most of the bumpers I have found do not include brackets so I was checking if I would need to buy those as well.

The bumper leads me to my other question. Like most of you know, eBay sellers dont usually advertise parts correctly. I am planning to just buy the valance and the bumper separately, so I would want the valance to fit on the bumper. Is there a specific "Edge" bumper, or will the Edge valance line up with any bumper from this era? Thanks, and if you are confused on what I'm asking, speak up and I'll try again.

As far as i know, you will need the 01-03 bumper brackets. you can get them from ford.

As for the valence...it will bolt up to either the paintable edge bumper or the chrome 4x4 bumper. It will fit the 4x2 chrome bumper, but you will have to cut the tabs off the sides (minor modification)

in most cases if you get a bumper and valance combo will not need any modifications i have done this on both of my trucks and both have bolted right up, one thing i would suggest is to replace your turn signal bulbs for for swaping the bumper since you can not get you bulbs out with out droping the bumper with an 01-05 bumper

So it does or does not take different bumper brackets?
