Already had tint!

I dropped my truck off this morning to get factory matched tint on the two front windows.

After work I stopped in to pick up my truck and I notice it looks no different! I walked in and they told me I already have a really light tint on and they could take it off for me for 60 bucks or let me do it myself and then bring it back for the darker tint.

So I'll do it myself, but I had no idea I already had tint. Its A LOT lighter than my back and ext cab windows.

Anyways...it got me to thinking about what % tint I want for the fronts when I go back.

Since I can't tell around here in Jersey, beause front tints are illegal, does it look stupid if the fronts don't match the rears?

I would like it to be dark cause of my new radio, but not too dark that it looks out of place with the rest of the truck.

Or is factory matched the way to go in terms of looks and will be dark enough.

$60 for 2-window tint removal!? holy crap what a ripoff! the factory rear and rear side privacy glass is equivalent to 'dark' tint; about 15%. you could do dark in the fronts, or go a shade lighter and do medium.

shouldn't just roll the window up most of the way start at the top and work down...

I promise you the shop that is doing youtint will only do whats visible not the whole window

True, good point. I took off my door panels anyways cause Im going to paint the handles.

Went to advanced auto parts and found this tint remover spray called Gila.

You spray it on, tape up a garbage bag around it, leave it sitting for 30 or so minutes and then pull it off. It comes with a razor blade to get it started.

Anyways, this stuff worked awesome. All the tint came right off in 3 - 4 pulls.
