Brake Lights staying on

While doing other repairs I found severed and smashed wires in the loom for the rear lights. Repaired those, and drove for two weeks without issue. Then I lost the brakes. Checked for leaks, there were none but I was loosing fluid somewhere. Replaced the master cylinder, didn't work. Changed the booster, now have brakes but my brake lights will not shut off. Replaced the brake light switch, the lights stay on. Adjusted the rod in the booster for minimum throw, and still the brake lights stay on, even with the key out of the ignition. Anything I am missing? Thanks!

Does the brake light turn off if you pull the peddle up?

Unfortunately not, I tried that before and after I adjusted the booster.

Thanks for your reply.

The brake switch is activated by the brake peddle. When you push the peddle down it activates the switch which turn on the brake lights. The switch should be touching the lever

This is the switch. It is mounted to the side of brake pedal lever. There are no moving parts, and does not come in contact with anything. To be honest, I am not sure how this type work.

Actually, there are moving parts... but they're internal and you can't see them.

Interesting bit of knowledge, I was kind of curious when I took the old one off. Bad thing is now I almost feel compelled to take the old one apart just to see how it works.
