Can't Believe My Luck ~ Swapped For A Black Grill, In My Own Backyard

I can't believe my luck. I walked out to my 2009, Vista Blue Supercab XLT Ranger after work and parked in front of me was an all, Black 2009. The woman works upstairs from me. I leaned down to take a closer look at the match between the valance, bumper and black plastic grill. All three match perfectly, a textured finish that also matched my lower front valance.
She asked me if she could help and I told her the Vista Blue Ranger behind her was mine and did she want to swap grills. She smiled and looked at me like I had two heads. I told her all women like and need Bling and a chrome grill on her all black would definitely add some BLING to her ride. Within minutes I gave her my business card and as we were leaving she said she would think about it and let me know tomorrow morning at work. Before either of us pulled away she got back out of her truck, walked to my window and said let’s do this. Once I found a ¼ drive, 7/32 socket tonight, it took a whole 2 minutes to take off my grill.

I’ll post pictures of the completed project tomorrow or Saturday.

Thank you for all your support and suggestions.

I’d rather be lucky than good.

Now if I could find a swap for those UGLY, stock steel wheel, I'd be golden

Nice! How do you like the MKX? I had an MKZ and loved it, but I like to be higher off the ground.

We really like the MKX. It replaced an Expedition. We down sized and were a little worried but so far everything has been great. Still have one kid coming back into the house after college and the MKX does a great job on the small 5x8 U-Haul trailers, and now we have the Ranger.

Yeah, maybe, if I hadn't been married to the same woman for 37 years.

Maybe the next step will be to read up on blacking out the rear tail lights. I have seen a few posts and photos here and that mod looks pretty sweet.

If you are going for a darker look, should do the headlight mod too. and search for nightshading for your tail lights. Probly the easiest way to darken em up.

Right on. Those chrome grilles don't do it much justice..............black is where it's at.

Now get some 31's on there already!! LOL

I saw the night shading mod of the rear tail lights. I like that look. I didn't see one for the front lights.

I know I am going to add Fogs. It's just a matter of going OEM or after market. I have OEM fogs on the MKX and really like the integrated head/fog light switch.

I don't like the looks of the OEM plastic stone guards, back of the wheel wells. If it's not outragously expensive, I am thinking about going back to Line-X (their sprayed liner came with the truck), have them pull the guards and then spray an accent line 3 or 4" high all the way around the truck.

So many mods, so little money. One step at a time.
