Cut on yer mud flaps lately?

Removed my mudflaps today and I ain't happy. Didn't like the two holes left in the sides of the fender, so I put the two push pins back in there. Don't like that either. I do like the look of the truck without the flaps...just those damn holes bother me.

Has anyone cut their flaps down to, well right at the place where they go from a "double" thick size to where they taper to just a "single" thickness size? Would be about a 4" flap if cut off from the original 81/2" length. Thoughts....

Hadn't thought of that. I took mine of right after the Knoxville meet in September. May add that to the list of mods. LOL!

I think I might take the jig saw and a belt sander to 'em. I have a silver truck and those two black push pins are a fashion faux pas... LOL. I should probably take some before and after pics in case someone else wants to go flap free or shorten their flaps, too.

i just unbolted mine... on my 93 ranger there's 4 little brackets that look like W's that the mud flaps bolt onto.. so i took the flaps off and left the brackets on.

my 2001 rangers mudflaps were held on by screws and hangers located on the inside of the fender. just unscrew, unbolt and remove! left just a few small screw holes on the inside of the fender lip. FTMFW!

Ford didn't want the flaps to go anywhere, that's for sure. My 2005 had four 2" screws an a push pin (for extra measure I suppose) for each flap. I like the suggestion from Zach about the fender guards.

I cut the flaps on my 99 a while ago. I wouldn't say they're perfect, I could have taken them off and straightened them out more, but I was happy with the results...

my opinion is that it looks better than just ditching them.

You can pick up some color matched spray paint and spray the heads of the push pins so they dont stick out as much

Thanks Nick....but I just got back from Bill's cut 'em up and bolt 'em back on shop. I took a scroll saw and chopped about four inches off, the hit them with a belt sander to make some graceful corners. Stuck them back on and I'm pretty happy. Seems to match the rest of the truck without having those looong flaps hiding my tires. Looks just like Anthony's rangerofdanger from the rear, they're there but subtle.

(in the form of an angle grinder and cut off wheel)

Not much light for the rear shot, but they are way more subtle than before.

not if your tires are 2x wider then the mud flaps then it looks like crap and you just remove them
