Is there a difference between say the exterior door handles on the 98 - 2000 model trucks and the 2001 up trucks? I ask this because my 2000 XLT 2wd truck has black metal door handles (feels like metal) that seems to kinda have some type of glittery material in the finish and the 2001 Edge that I owned had larger black abs plastic molded type handles from what I remember. If there is a difference can the newer handles fit on a truck like mine?

 

In I believe '01, ford changed over to ABS plastic for the door handles and tailgate handles. I know the tailgate handles are interchangable between the plastic and the metal ones....but I don't know anything about swaping the door handles. I don't see any reason why they aren't interchangable.

On a side note.....

Does anyone know if Explorer door handles will fit Ranger?? I want painted door handles...and possibly tailgate handle.

my 97 had black plastic handles. ive never seen a 93+ ranger with metal door handles; or maybe i jus havent payed close enough attention....

i put explorer handles on my 97 to get the painted handles on it. i dont see any reason it wouldnt work on newer trucks too, but i cant say i have actually done it to find out.

 

Mine came with color matched metal handles on the doors and tailgate.
