Fixing dents and scratchs

So my truck has a few dents (some rather big ones that I'm going to pull out with a dent puller) and other ones that aren't to big. Now I want to start to fix these. I know that my truck is going to have different colors on it which I really hate but I need to fix these things. I have a guy who will paint it for me but will not do the body work which i understand. So my question is what would I need to fix a few dents and a ton of scratches, such as sand paper, primer, filler. what would I need exactly. if you have a link to what I'm asking post it up.

No painting required for minor scratches

Start by sanding with 320/400 grit sand paper to take a little of the clear coat off (where most of the scratches are) Then work your way up to 2000 grit(wet sand) to smooth the surface(make sure not to sand into the base coat). take a polisher and buffing compound and shine area to desired shine.

For small dents- Take it to a paintless dent removal place. They can remove the majority of the dents without breaking the paint.

Hope this helps

well these aren't minor lol. I offroad through the bush all the time so its rather big scrathes. it sucks. I really want to paint it again and put some of that liner in the bed and I think I might put it on the bottom of the truck where the body line comes up to about just before the top of the fender.

ok thanks, i get sort of what I need to do. i see the tools and everything. Ok well I want to paint my truck so when I do this I have to get all the imperfections out of there. I don't have to sand the whole thing down do I just the parts that are messed up right.I mean a lot of the fenders and the doors aren't to bad its mainly the hood and bed that have a lot of the mess ups on it.

I've got a couple of unwanted scratches as well. I want them gone, but I just haven't gotten around to actually see about getting them buffed out. I guess that's what you get when you take you daily driver to Tellico.

That's pretty much been the main reason I haven't done anything about it yet.

yeah, I have a bunch of them. My parents never really waxed the truck before I got it so it didn't have the right protection it needed. maybe I'll see what I can do about getting the dents out and maybe seeing if the paint can be blended around that area. I have to get an electric buffer. i can't find ares.
