CB Whips

Really wanna get a pair, but stupidly dont have a CB. I think they give a nice look to a truck, wondering where i could get them, and do they need to be hooked up to the CB, or can i have them just for show?

You can certainly have the just for show, but if you're going through the trouble for less than $50 you can get the radio and coax. Be warned, that dual antennas on a small truck like a Ranger is not a good idea if you want the radio to actually work properly.

You can check eBay too. I just don't understand why you want them for show...

I used to have 2 four footers on mine, busted them up after bouncing them off trees and drive thru's. So i went to the 2 footers, still works just as fine but i guess if you don't wanna radio you won't have to worry about that

i have a 4' fiberglass whip.. it looks great, personally (although i have never seen dual on a ranger) i think duals look best on full size trucks, preferably dodge

anyways, on w. a tiny rant.. the 102" ones.. my friends have the metal ones.. they are limp and ****.. it looks bad in my opinion, get the 10' fiberglass one if u go that way

as for having problems w/ them breaking.. i havnt had any yet, i have driven on trails w/ tree limbs hanging town to almost my hood, and neither antenna had a problem.

Thats all

They will work, but to work properly phased antennas need to be 1/2 wave apart or they will actually degrade performance. Since CB freq is at 11 Meters, it is not possible to get them 1/2 wave apart on a Ranger.

than no trcuks should have dual ones. tractor tailer mirrors arent 11 meters apart. i have mine mounted on eack side of my toolbox so that what a little over 4ft and they work great ran cables threw drain plugs in the floor and a splitter at the cb.

I think a nice compromise is a 60" whip like I have. Of course it's a little busted up since it was on my truck in the roll-over, but it was nice while it lasted, haha.

They will work, but there is no advantage in performance and in many cases, a single will work better. Ham radio operators are forced to learn something about electronics and antenna theory. Ever notice ham operators don't use two antennas on their mobile units?
