gen1 to gen 2 or 3 bed
Hello all, new here. Been doing a lot of research but have a couple questions. Looking for a new bed for our 92 Ranger - short bed, everything I can locate in our area that is still good is either 2000 or 2001. I know style lines will be different and can handle that but will going that much newer still work? I do realize wiring for taillights may need to be changed but other than that would it work or do I just keep looking?
Thanks

Yes, the frame never changed as far as width so any 6ft bed will bolt to any Ranger, 1983-2011, 1993 and up will be about 1" wider on each side, so watch that rear bumper fit.
All Rangers, regular cab or extended cab, used the same 6ft bed, only exception was the Long Bed Ranger with 7ft, only came in regular cab and rear axle is 6" farther back so 7ft bed won't work on 6ft bed frame, if you line up wheel wells there would be a 6" gap between cab and bed, lol

Got the new bed home, before getting it we measured all of the mounting bolts just to be sure everything will bolt on. Measured the distance between the holes in the corners of the bed too. The plan was to put wood in the holes in the corners of the bed, flip it upside down and strap it down to bring it home. All that worked like a charm. The 01 bed is about 1" wider per side. Kid doesn't seem to mind since its a rust free bed. Cant install for a few days because we had to order a taillight lens for it which should be here by the weekend. Ron D, I looked at the fuel filler tube, hoping the added width wont matter as the 92 uses a single hose that is probably 2" and the 01 filler uses a much smaller hose and also has the return line that the 92 doesn't have. Only thing we may have to swap is the sockets for the light bulbs if they dont fit, at least they both have a combination turn/tail bulb so I believe we can use the current 92 wiring and not have to change anything. Also managed to score a clean chrome bumper.
