Grey plastic Flares + Bumpers... can be painted??

Grey plastic Flares + Bumpers... can be painted??

Hey guys my B4000, has the same kinda grey plastic flares and front bumper like the Fx4's have... can these be painted to match the body? Im mainly just interested in having the front valance painted.... whats the dealio?

Remove
Sand Smooth
Primer (1 Coat)
3 Coats Krylon Fusion
2 to 3 coats Matte/Gloss clearcoat

..ya i forgot to mention i want to colour match them to my truck... the valence mainly...

aight just making sure, didnt know if the paint he was talking about had the same properties as the paint on the rest of my truck, since these are flexible parts. Gonna do the front valence only i think.

Trying to match a valance through a non-factory paint will always have issues.. The only problem, even with factory painted ones.. is that they chip pretty good if you dont prep it right, and factory paint is thin as all getup.. hence, the little guide I posted is to get a good chip-proof style paint on there.. and then once every 6 months toss another coat of clearcoat on it to keep it looking good! :-)

^^ ok thanks alot. i mite put some 3m rock guard, the clear stuff, on top of the paint afterwards

Your best bet to get a perfect match would be to go to a body shop and have them sprayed. if you prep it and have them ready to go, it souldnt be too much to just get them sprayed.

^^^ im gonna get it quoted by a body shop first.

wreckers here want an arm and a leg for anything. so the dual sport idea is out. Unless someone wants to trade me.
