may I ask what baking the lights do? (I've never done a headlight mod before...but would like to.)

EDIT:

wait...are you doing tht to melt the glue from the glass/plastic...whatever it is?

baking the lights heats up the (hellish) factory ford adhesive/sealant that holds the light together. IF you dont bake them, you'll never get them apart without breaking them. When it gets hot it makes the sealant rubbery and easier to work with.

crazymikey 02-06-2009 07:33 PM

Would have been funnier if you had an apron and chef hat inthe 2nd pic. Go do a retake.

i'll look for a chef hat tomorrow. lol

i baked them at 205 degree's for 20 mins and everything went fine. although i did lose all the skin on my knuckle due to rough edges on the headlight assembly.

Wow that satin finish way better than the glossy stuff. Looks great. Definitely keep us posted.

Trigger01 02-06-2009 09:29 PM

You suck for making us wait. They'll look great on the truck.

I did my lights and corners at 250 for 6 minutes.
popped right apart. WOOOOO
just make sure you get all that ford adhesive out of the light fixture before it cools, or you'll have a hard time getting it out completely and might not get a good seal when you put the light back together.

I know of a couple sealants I could use but which one do you guys think is the best to reseal the light?
