I wash mine at least once a week if it's starts to turn white. Some weeks more, just because I can pull it in the wash bay at work.

Lol why would you not use wd40?? Its about the safest thing ever.

And yeah you need to keep it washed. Here in oregon they use de-icer and it will strip any clearcoat off in a matter of a week if its left on

Why I have so much weight in the bed? I can think of three reasons...

Annual average snowfall = 234 cm (92 inches)
Overnight lows can be down to minus 40 deg C/F (minus 30 to minus 35 deg C happens for 1-3 weeks every year).
Glare ice is typical in January and/or February.

What does having all that weight have to do with overnight lows. I'm just curious. I've never had the need to put weight in my 4wd for winter. I go off road and into the woods in the winter with out issues

When roads are in decent condition in winter, I drive in 2WD. Howerver, the road is still frozen and can be slick in places. Weight in the bed reduces the amount of fishtailing that I sometimes get. Winter up here last five to six months. Weight in the bed is pretty common. Probably half the vehicles on the road are trucks.

About a 9 hour drive north-northeast of Vancouver.

Since every second vehicle is a truck (mostly full size), parking at malls is a PITA.

im from NC too and last year all i did was load up the bed with 11 cinder blocks all in the back but didn't stack them then strapped them all down. I was amazed at the traction i had with those stock tires on the snow and ice. I could drive everywhere in 2wd i made it through my neighborhood which is very hilly and steep in 2wd on the ice without spinning.
