I recently bought a set of billet grilles for my 2001 Ranger regular cab, base model. The top (main) grille I managed to get in with no problem, the lower however is giving me some trouble.
It fits in the opening well but there seems to be nowhere to bolt it. The grille has these two brackets on the back of it that have 90 degree turn in with holes drilled in them. It came with two bolts, washers and nuts. Instructions are as follows.
(1) Place the billet insert in the bumper / air dam opening. There should be two holes in the bumper opening that line up with the two mounts in back of the billet insert.
(2) Center the billet in the bumper opening. Fasten the billet insert to the factory holes using the hardware supplied.
(3) Be sure all the fasteners are tight.
(4) Your installation is now complete.


Problem is that there are no holes that it lines up with. None!

So does anyone have any experience installing this grille? Can anyone help?

remove tow hooks?

 

Tow hooks are nowhere near where the grilles tabs go. When the grille is inserted the tabs just stick out into open space in front of the lower half of the radiator.

 

Made my own brackets.
